Inner West
Newtown, Marrickville, Leichhardt and Ashfield.
Trusted by Sydney homeowners and businesses. CEC-accredited installers. Panels, batteries, and heat pumps designed for Sydney roofs, network rules, and energy prices.
Electricity prices across NSW keep climbing, and Sydney households carry some of the highest quarterly bills in the country. Ducted air conditioning through a Penrith summer, a growing family home in the Hills District, a renovated terrace in Newtown: the bill has become one of the most painful recurring costs of living here. For any property with meaningful daytime consumption, that is money leaving your account for energy your own roof could be producing.
The frustrating part is that Sydney is one of the best solar cities in the developed world. The basin averages more than four and a half peak sun hours a day year round, and Western Sydney records some of the strongest irradiance in the metropolitan area. The same sun driving your cooling costs could be paying for it instead.
Renewable Industries designs and installs custom solar for Sydney homes and businesses using CEC-accredited installers who understand what makes this market different: Ausgrid and Endeavour export rules, heritage controls in the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs, salt exposure on coastal roofs, extreme heat west of Parramatta, and tight terrace roof spaces that need careful layout and shading analysis. Every system is designed around the property it goes on.
For Sydney homeowners and businesses, solar is the most practical way to take control of energy costs for the next 25 years.
Renewable Industries offers a full suite of solar and clean energy services for Sydney residential and commercial clients. Every solar system is designed specifically for your property, energy usage, and budget.
Custom-designed rooftop solar systems for Sydney homes of every type, from Inner West terraces and semis to large Hills District and North West family homes. We optimise each install for your specific roof.
Solar systems for Sydney businesses, including light industrial premises, warehouses, retail and hospitality sites, and commercial buildings across greater Sydney. We manage all approvals and compliance.
Store your solar generation for use at night or during outages. With Sydney feed-in tariffs now low, storage is where most of the remaining savings sit. Federal battery rebates currently available. Rebate reduces.
We install solar right across greater Sydney — from the Northern Beaches down through the Eastern Suburbs and Sutherland Shire, and west from the Inner City out to Penrith and Macarthur.

Getting solar with Renewable Industries is a straightforward, fully managed process. From your first call to a fully operational system, here is how it works:
Step 1
We assess your roof, shading, switchboard, and energy usage. Many Sydney assessments start remotely using satellite imagery and a recent bill. No obligations, no sales pressure.
Step 2
We design your system around your roof, orientation, and goals. Terrace roof space, heritage controls, coastal salt exposure, and Western Sydney heat are all accounted for.
Step 3
Itemised quote with STCs applied. You see the real net cost upfront. We explain every line, including any switchboard or export limit implications.
Step 4
CEC-accredited crew completes the install, typically in a single day. All NSW compliance standards met, no subcontracting.
Step 5
We manage the Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy connection application, metering, and compliance paperwork. Most Sydney customers are fully operational within 4 to 7 weeks.
There is no shortage of solar companies operating in Sydney, and no shortage of cheap ones that disappear after the install. Here is why Sydney homeowners and businesses choose Renewable Industries:
In most cases, no. Residential solar installations across Sydney fall under exempt development within the NSW State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes), so you do not need a DA or development consent from your local council, whether that is City of Sydney, Inner West, Blacktown, Penrith, Sutherland Shire, or any other Sydney council, provided the system meets standard conditions such as panels not projecting more than 300mm above the roof surface. The main exceptions in Sydney are heritage items and properties inside heritage conservation areas, which are common in suburbs like Paddington, Balmain, Glebe, Haberfield, and parts of the North Shore. In those cases panel placement on street-facing roof planes may need consideration. We confirm your planning status as part of every quote.
Sydney is split between two distribution networks. Ausgrid covers the Sydney CBD, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, and the northern and eastern parts of the metropolitan area. Endeavour Energy covers Western Sydney, the South West, the Blue Mountains, and the Illawarra, including suburbs such as Blacktown, Penrith, Liverpool, and Campbelltown. This matters because each network sets its own export limits and approval process for solar and battery systems. We confirm your distributor during the initial assessment and manage the entire connection application on your behalf.
After federal STC rebates are applied, a quality 6.6 kW residential solar system in Sydney typically costs between $4,500 and $8,000, depending on panel brand, inverter type, roof complexity, and storey height. A 10 kW system generally sits in the $7,000 to $11,000 range, and larger homes in the North West and Hills District often go to 13 kW or more. Adding a quality 10 kWh battery currently adds roughly $8,000 to $12,000 before the federal battery rebate. Terrace and multi-storey installs in the Inner City can carry additional access costs. We provide fully itemised quotes so you know exactly what you are investing in.
Yes, and this is one of the most misunderstood parts of going solar in Sydney. Both Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy apply export limits, commonly 5 kW per phase for residential connections, with larger systems approved subject to conditions or export control. You can still install a system larger than your export limit, and in most cases you should, because the value now sits in self-consumption rather than feed-in credits. We design around your actual usage profile and confirm the applicable limit before you sign anything.
Solar panels lose a small amount of efficiency at very high temperatures, a factor known as the temperature coefficient. This is most relevant across Western Sydney, where Penrith, Blacktown, and Liverpool regularly exceed 40 degrees Celsius in summer and dark tile roofs push panel temperatures higher again. We account for this by selecting panels with a low temperature coefficient, ensuring adequate roof clearance for airflow, and placing inverters out of direct afternoon sun. Sydney’s overall irradiance means systems still deliver excellent annual output.
Sydney homeowners can currently access federal Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs), which reduce your upfront installation cost directly. Sydney sits within STC Zone 3, attracting a strong certificate entitlement. The scheme phases down annually and ends in 2030, so installing earlier delivers greater savings. The federal Cheaper Home Battery Program also provides a rebate on eligible battery systems, and that rebate reduces annually from 2026. Additional incentives may apply for connecting an eligible battery to a Virtual Power Plant. We calculate your exact entitlements and apply them directly to your quote.
Terraces and townhouses are absolutely viable. The constraint is usable roof area and shading from neighbouring buildings, which we assess properly rather than guessing from a satellite image alone. Smaller high-efficiency panel layouts and micro-inverters or optimisers often make a modest roof worthwhile. Strata properties are more involved because common property roof space requires owners corporation approval, and we can help you prepare the information needed for that.
Most Sydney residential installations follow this timeline: initial assessment and quote within 2 to 3 business days, installation scheduled within 2 to 4 weeks of accepting the quote and typically completed in a single day, then network connection approval through Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy taking approximately 2 to 4 weeks after installation. In total, most customers are generating solar power within 4 to 7 weeks of first contact.
Yes. We work with solar finance providers that offer interest-free and low-rate payment options. Many customers begin saving on electricity bills immediately, before their first repayment is due. Ask us about finance options when you request your quote.
